2007 Jr National Qualifier Letter and Application
Dear Room Proprietor,
The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) is pleased to offer you the opportunity to host a young boy's or young girl's BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships qualifier to be held on a Saturday and/or Sunday prior to May 21st that will allow the winners to compete against the top young cueists from the United States in the BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships.
The BEF has teamed up with the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) to hold the BEF Junior National Championships alongside the ACUI Collegiate 9-Ball Championships. We will select over 50 locations throughout the country, and we believe your room may meet the requirements to be considered as a host site.
Celebrating its 19th year, the BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships (formerly produced by the BCA) have become the most prestigious junior event in North America. Professional players such as Charlie Williams and Tiffany Nelson started out competing in the BCA Junior National 9-Ball Championships and are now playing on the Professional Tour. Held on a university campus, top young cueists will compete for scholarships and prizes as well as a position on Team USA, competing at the World Pool-Billiard (WPA) Junior World Championships.
First Steps
| | 1. | Determine dates and location where your event will be held. | | 2. | Determine what divisions you will host. You may choose all or part of the following 4 divisions: 19 & Under Boys, 14 & Under Boys, 19 & Under Girls and 14 & Under Girls. | | 3. | Complete the BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships Qualifier Application and submit with your $25 entry fee per division (if you would like the top 2 finishers in each division to receive an entry, enclose $50 per division) to the BEF at the address below, no less than three weeks prior to your event date. BEF will provide each host room with a full promotional package to include flow charts and entry forms, as well as appropriate regional and national advertising on www.billiardeducation.org and other media outlets to ensure the success of your event. | | 4. | Promote the event to ensure its success. | | 5. | One winner per entry fee will advance to the BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships. BEF will supply one plaque per entry, to be given at the Junior Nationals. |
| Requirements | | 1. | Follow BCA Rules for competition, as the BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championship will be played by the BCA rules. | | 2. | A 14 & under participant is allowed to play in a 19 & under division. However, if they qualify for the Junior Nationals, they will be placed in their respective division at Junior Nationals. | | 3. | Players participating in the 19 & under division must be 18 or younger on or before December 31st of the year prior to the upcoming BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships. Players participating in the 14 & under must be 14 or younger on or before the last day of the upcoming BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships. If a player is 14 at the time of the qualifier, wins the 14 & under but is 15 prior to the last day of the upcoming Junior Nationals, that player will be placed in the 19 & under division at the Junior Nationals. | | 4. | A player can only win one (1) berth in the BEF Junior Nationals 9-Ball Championships. That player is allowed to compete in other qualifiers, but once a player has won a qualifier for the upcoming year, the next qualifier he/she wins reverts to the 2nd place finisher. The entry, prizes and plaque are given to the 2nd place finisher. | | 5. | Participants must be BEF Junior Billiards members. Sign up at the tournament requires players to pay $15 for their BEF membership dues, which allows them to compete in any BEF qualifier this season. Host room may collect no more than $5 per player for green fees. | | 6. | Complete and send a BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships Qualifier Application, plus your $25 entry fee per division/entry, no less than three weeks prior to your event. | | 7. | Post-event forms must be mailed as soon as possible with any new Junior Billiards membership applications and fees to the BEF at the address below. | | 8. | All fees are non-refundable. | | 9. | Qualifiers may be played on any size pool table. However, the Junior Nationals will be played on nine-foot pool tables, please inform your players. |
